Store / Retail Cards: payoff guide

What makes store / retail cards different from other cards, and the best approach to paying down balances.

Typical APR: 28%

Store cards (Target RedCard, Amazon store card, department store cards) typically have the highest APRs of any card type — often 25-30%+. They're designed to be easy to get (lower credit standards) and profitable for the retailer. The discounts and rewards they offer are easily overwhelmed by even a single month of carried balance at these rates. Generally best avoided for carrying balances.
